Salt Lake Half

A couple of weeks ago I completed the Salt Lake City half marathon! This was no easy feat for me. I have been insanely busy lately. Unfortunately, training wasn't a priority for me. During the month before the race I moved, began renovating a house, spent a week in Hawaii, and got sick twice (once with influenza B and once with strep throat)! Those things didn't leave me with the time or energy to dedicate to my training schedule.

The week before my race I decided I wasn't going to race for a specific time set as my goal, but that my goal was going to be to not injure myself and to not walk at any point during the 13.1 miles that made up the half. Around mile 5 my right knee started to ache and lock up. I got pretty worried but breathed through the discomfort and by mile 9 I didn't feel it anymore.

The race was so fun. We had crowds all along the way cheering us on. There were bands on most corners, dance teams, and people having breakfast parties in their front yards while watching us run on! It was very fun and I loved it, but I am glad it's over. I always look forward to my future races, but they are almost over for the time being. I have one more relay race this summer but after that...no more running for me. The doc says no more distance running until I have a baby.

I crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 11 minutes (about 8 minutes slower than last year. That's what not training will get ya) and my darling husband was right there to congratulate me.

Right after, we met up with Matt and Brooke at Eggs in the City for some breakfast...YUM!

I am so proud of you for not only running it this year but, running it again after running it once last year. I wish I was motivated to start running. I walk my dogs to the corner and back and think that's good enough and about once a week around the block(which is a mile). WOW! I guess I better get moving and try harder! I don't even go to exercise classes!

You are amazing! One of my goals in life is to run a marathon or at least a half. I am excited to see the pictures of your house when you are finished.

Wait to go Court! You kick butt and look cute doing it! I can't believe you just ran with a locked up knee-I would have just quit!

Nice work, Court! I love that pic of you and Josh after your run. I can't believe how fast you ran with not training! You still beat my half-marathon time, sucka! I am going to have to redeem myself somehow...
