Wasatch Back... I Think I Have Officially Gone CRAZY!

Last Friday and Saturday I ran the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay. This race starts in Logan, UT and takes you winding through the Wasatch Mountains for 180 miles to Park City. Yep, that's right 180 miles. We are crazy! I did this race with some of my girlfriends and we had SO MUCH FUN! I loved all of the girls on our team. It was so much fun to spend so much time with them. I felt like we were in 7th grade again having a sleep over in a car. We had a great time together. In this race you run 3-6 legs over a 24-36 hour time period. It took our team about 28 hours to finish. You try to sleep in a car when you aren't running but it doesn't really work. Each team always has someone running. The other runners are in a car following their runner. There are exchange points where you tag off and the next runner starts. Each leg is between 3 and 8 miles long and most are up hill.

Every team has a theme and usually decorates their car to match their theme. Some of the team themes were Running on Poo Pains, Hannah Montana (this was a car full of 25-30 year old men), Wasatch Baby Got Back, ASSphalt Kickers (they had plastic butts all over their car), Nacho Libre (they ran the entire race in spandex, capes and wigs), but my favorite was a Monty Python and the Holy Grail team. We were pulled over at 4 in the morning trying to get a couple of minutes of sleep in and we heard what we thought was a horse running by our car. We were really confused so we all got up and turned on lights. This is my favorite, there was no horse but there was a Monty Python runner clicking coconuts together while he ran. That made the whole race worth doing. That seriously made my night. I love that movie so they won my vote for the best themed team. They kept in character the entire race and I loved it.

This race was the most physically challenging thing I have ever done. I was completely exhausted by the end. I got no sleep and we didn't have very much food. We know to be more prepared next year because we were all pretty hungry. This race is in the middle of nowhere so there aren't any restaurants. Besides being hungry and tired we were all very hot. It got above 90 degrees during the day. Luckily we had a water gun that we sprayed each other with. I was the finishing runner and my run was the only trail run in the entire race. I had a five miler that should have been pretty easy. It was a low but steady uphill run. I ran into a couple of problems though. My team wasn't able to follow me to spray me or hand me water so I had no liquids while running uphill in 94 degree heat. About 2 miles into the run I made a wrong turn with 2 other runners from other teams. Some stupid mean person flipped one of the direction signs. We went about a half mile in the wrong direction before realizing it and having to find the right way again. I could have killed that person. I was really flustered and starting to feel pretty fatigued. Because of this I wasn't picking my feet very far off the ground and I tripped and ate it. It was so hard to get up and finish. I was so hot and so tired but I had a team to finish for so I sucked it up and did it. I was so happy to finish. I was purely exhausted. I have never felt that way before and I hope next year something is different because that last leg was NOT FUN! All in all the race was a blast. I loved it and I can't wait for next year. I hope to make this a tradition and do it every year for a long time. I told Josh that we need to get pregnant right now so we can have the baby in time for me to do the Wasatch Back next year. He said no.

Here are all of the girls that were in our car, we had Bunny, Jenny, me, Shelly, Heather, and Lindsay.

This is me doing a cartwheel on my first leg, there were no cartwheels done in my last leg.

Heather not looking so excited to be running 5 miles at 3 am.

Shelly, Lindsay, and our life saver!

This is what most of our race looked like. We ran pass 5 lakes, it was so beautiful.

We decided to do some extensions while we were waiting for one of our runners.

Shelly, Bunny, Heather, baby Claire, me Lindsay.

This is what the exchanges are. Bunny just finished her run and tagged off to Jenny.

Heather, Jenny, Bunny

Jenny and me, both so happy to be done!

Our whole team together after we crossed the finish line. Van 1 got to get all cleaned up, out car didn't. I made headbands for our team to wear for pictures.

Here are a few things I love about my dad:

  • He is a very funny person
  • He loves his family
  • He makes friends with everyone he meets
  • He is a kid at heart
  • He loves to have people do silly things to entertain him
  • He and I are twins
  • He is the most generous person I have ever met
  • He flirts with women that are old or overweight, it makes their day
  • He is always happy
  • He loves adventures
  • He loves the gospel
  • He is always fun to be around
  • He is the best dad I could have asked for
I always said I wanted to marry a man who was just like my dad, and I was lucky enough to find someone is so similar to him it weirds me out sometimes. I love you Daddy, thank you for everything!

I could do this every day

Last week I took my friend Tiffany's little girls for a couple days so she could go on a weekend trip with her husband. I had sooo much fun with these little munchkins. We went to my aunt and uncles house to play with my cousin's kids, fed horses, played at the park, watched Enchanted, swam and played! I love these girls so much, I wish they were my children. They are all so well behaved. They slept for almost 12 hours each during the night and the baby took a three hour nap in the morning. I don't know what Tiff has done to have such amazing kids but whatever it is I'm following her every move. I hope we have kids that are as beautiful and sweet as these three.

Happy Sadie! This is what I woke up to...are you kidding me? How pleasant could she be? She didn't cry once in the time I had her.

We had Dustin and Carly over for dinner last week. We made lasagna, salad and bruschetta. After dinner we went to the stream that runs through our neighborhood and races sticks under the bridge. It was to much fun to act like kids again. We were running and pushing each other out of the way to see who's stick would come out first. Dustin won...twice! This is his victory dance below. After our stick race we made fresh peach cobbler. Some more of our friends came over to enjoy it. Josh had been talking about this surfing Patrick Swayze movie, "Point Break," forever so we finally watched it with Matt and Brooke. The guys kept telling us we'd like him so much more after seeing this movie because he finally wasn't dancing like a girl, but I like Patrick when he dances. What girl doesn't?

Blueberry Muffins

Lauren and Kennedy came over the other day to play with me. We had so much fun. We played dress up, make up and we made blueberry muffins. Here are some pictures of the littles.

They wanted to wear my aprons, so cute!

Notice, Kennedy is actually SMILING in a picture!

How does this happen?

Does anyone have this problem? I don't know how I always do this but I do! I did laundry 10 days ago and my pile is already this big. This is only my clothing from the past week and a half, not Josh's. Does anyone have any tips? You can't even tell how many clothes are in this pile from this picture. I hate doing laundry!

I have been tagged again so here it is...

How To Play This Game of Tag:

Post these rules on your blog.
List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog!

3 Joys

1. My Family~ My husband is amazing, my parents and siblings are the best, and I love my nieces as if they are my own.
2. Food~ I love to eat. I better keep working out because if I ever stop I will be a cow.
3. My wordrobe~ I love to go into my closet and look at my collection of clothes, shoes and accessories.

3 Fears

1. Having somebody very close to me die or have a serious illness. I love people too much. I don't want to see anyone go through something horrible and I never want to lose a loved one.
2. Not being able to have children. I think I was born to be a mama so this would devistate me.
3. I'm not afraid of dying but I am afraid of the way I will go. I don't want to fall to my death, I hate flying for this very reason. If you crash in a plane, that's a long way down. I don't want to be eaten by a shark, that would be scary and painful. I don't want a lion to chase me down for dinner. I don't want a bear to beat me to death and I certainly don't want a gorilla to sit on me. Basically I don't want to die because an animal saw that I was an easy target. I also don't want some psychopath to kidnap me and do terrible things to me before he finishes me off. You would think that I have spent a lot of time thinking about this but I really haven't. Josh and I were talking about this very thing yesterday so it is fresh in my noggin.

3 obsessions/ collections

1. I love clothes, make up, perfume and accessories. I would say that I collect these things but doesn't everyone? I pretty much am obsessed with anything that makes you absolutely lovely.
2. I love to organize. I love to do everything kind of organizing. I particularly love to do closets though.
3. I am obsessed with babies and little childern. I want lots of them and I wish I had some running around my house right now. PLEASE JOSH, PLEASE!

3 Goals

1. I want Josh and I to always be happy in our marriage. I know crap happens and everyone has their ups and downs but I hope that we are always happy that we chose each other.
2. To convince my husband to get me pregnant in the near future.
3. To have defined abs by our trip to Cancun in August.

3 random/surprising facts about myself

1. I think I am one of the funniest people alive, just ask Josh. Not really but I do crack myself up from time to time. I laugh at my genius humor all the live long day(someone has to). I have the lamest sense of humor. I get it from my mom and grandma. I think the silliest things are funny and that is why I think I am funny. I'm just kind of one big silly joke.
2. I am a little old lady inside. I love to knit and I make these cute little hats for people of all ages. I am going to try to create a website so you can all see them. They are just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. If I can't get a website going I will create a special blog just for them.
3. I love to play. I don't get to do it very often but I really enjoy it when I can. I love to jump on trampolines and pogo sticks, I love to swim (well I'm sort of afraid of swimming but I like to be by the pool), I love to dance and sing, I pretty much just love to have fun.

5 people I tag:

1. Mari
2. Brooke
3. Tori
4. Chelsea
5. Rachel

Busy Busy Busy

Friday night we did a barbecue up Mill Creek Canyon with Matt, Brooke, Joe, Tori, Brock and Nicole. It was so much fun. We made the yummiest smores ever. We used caramel filled chocolate instead of regular old Hershey's and they were delicious. We always have fun with our friends. We had the joy of hearing some of the worst wedding music EVER. There was a wedding reception going on up the canyon not too far from where we were. I think they must have been having a karaoke party because some of the songs were painful to listen to. While Brooke and I were walking back to the car to go home (it was completely dark out) Josh hid behind a big boulder and came out to scare us. I screamed sooooo loud. I haven't heard a sound like that come out of myself in years. He scared me to bloody death. I thought he was a bear or something else terrible that was going to eat me alive! We had a fun night with some of our best friends.

The men after they built their manly fire.

Yesterday was an eventful day. It started for me at 4:30 am. I did my friends hair for her morning wedding. She looked AMAZING. Her reception was beautiful. I was so excited because I got to see Mari! She is one of my favorite people in the whole world. I don't think it's fair that we live so far from each other. After the wedding Josh and I headed to the pool and were so happy to feel the sun's warmth. It's been a long time since we have been warm in Utah.

Her dress was gorgeous. She made a beautiful bride.

After the pool I went to my friend Tess's baby shower. She is one of 5 pregnant stylists at my salon right now. Isn't that crazy!!! We are like a factory at Visions. It was so much fun to spend time with the girls. We ate chicken salad sandwiches, home made salsa and fresh fruit. We played fun games and enjoyed the nice weather.

Brooke, Jenna and Tess

After the baby shower I went to "Sex and the City" and was NOT disappointed. It was soooo good! I thought it was the perfect ending to the series. I loved the clothes, shoes, characters, locations...everything. It really made me miss New York. I wish we could go back. I also wish that I had Sarah Jessica Parker's entire wardrobe. Poor me.
