He's a Missionary

My sweet little Patrick is gone. He left to serve a mission for our church last Wednesday, May 12. He will be living in Argentina for 2 years, serving and teaching the people there. They are lucky to have him.

Dropping Patrick off at the MTC was very bittersweet for me. I have loved living next to him again. I loved having him there to play with and to cook for. I even didn't mind cutting his hair at my house. He is just a joy to be around. He is such a happy person and I think everyone can learn something from his disposition. I wish I was more like him. I miss him but am so proud of him. Leaving everything you know for 2 solid years would be hard, and I'm sure really crappy at times, but I have no doubt he will rock out there. He will just be Patrick and everyone will love him and be drawn to him, and because of that he will have the opportunity to teach them about the gospel of Christ.

For the few days he was in UT before he left for his mission we pretty much just hung out as a family. We hot tubbed, watched movies, worked on puzzles, celebrated my mom's birthday, and just enjoyed each other. Patrick stashed some of his belongings around the cabin for us to find later. We already found his Dwight Schrute bobble head in the microwave- funny boy. It was good to have those last few days with him for a couple of years. I am excited for us to tell our daughter about him and for her to meet him for the first time, she'll be a year and a half old. I'm sad they won't meet before then, but it's all for a good cause.

The day he left was filled with tears and hugs. He is a good boy and was never embarrassed to hug his mom and sisters, or tell us he loved us. He is such a sweet boy.

Here he is at the cabin right before we took off, with his temporary companion Elder Schrute.

Eating our last meal together for 2 years at Communal in Provo.

Dropping my baby brother off at the MTC.

See you in 2 years Patty Wack.

Patrick has already written us twice and is doing great. He tells us he LOVES the MTC and is learning so much. Getting his letters made my day! Yesterday I made him some cookies and had them delivered to him, I hope they got there on time and in good condition. Anyway, I am so proud of Patrick. I love him. Josh and I always say we want our kids to be like their Uncle Pat. I know they will love him and I'm excited for them to have experiences throughout life together.

This made me cry! I have already had one brother and brother-in-law leave and now they're back! But that first good-bye is always the hardest. It definitely goes by faster than expected. He is lucky to have you cheering him on!

Good luck to your brother! That would be incredibly hard to say goodbye for two years. But time will pass quickly and before you know it, he will be back again! =)

Oh how hard. I can't even imagine sending my brother off for two years. My husband,Jeremy, went to Argentina on his mission and absolutely loved it. He learned so much and so will your brother. So exciting and sad at the same time.

He is so cute! We got letters too! I loved reading them, although I had to read a few things twice because his handwriting is horrible lol. I have sent him two packages so far, both with cookies! He is lucky boy getting all of our cookies!

it's so hard to watch your little brother leave for a mission. I just kept thinking how brave Skyler was and I was so worried he wouldn't be ok or be taken care of. And of course, they absolutely love it and are so happy to finally be serving the Lord and on their mission. He'll be great! I can't believe Pat is a missionary!
