Our First Couple Days in Cancun

We are in Mexico and are having the time of our lives! Here is a recap of our first few days:

The first night we arrived we ate at the restaurant on our hotel grounds. After we went on a night beach walk. It was so nice to walk in the warm water and soft sand. We both LOVE it here.
After our walk we went to get ice cream bars from the little market and ate them while lying on hammocks.

On our first day we just hung out at the hotel all day. We played all day long. It's amazing how tired you get after spending the whole day in the sun. I found this crab in our hotel pool! We transfered it out of the pool back to the beach. Pretty cool huh?

On our second day we went to a teeny tiny island off of Cancun, Isla Mujeres. It was soooo AWESOME! Here we are about to get on the ferry that took us to the island.

The water here is so gorgeous. You don't see colors like this where we live so we were thrilled.

We ate lunch at this little Mexican place on the beach. The food was delicious. We even tried chocolate mole enchiladas.

As soon as we got off of the boat we rented mopeds. We rode them all over the island. We saw some of the most beautiful beaches and look out points. We drove past mansions and ghettos. I've never seen such a cool and diverse place. I love Isla Mujeres and I highly recommend going if you are ever in Cancun. We each fell over on our scooters once. It was kind of scary and we were all glad we weren't going very fast at the time we ate it.

The boys had a hard time getting our scooters to start after we crashed them.

It took a local to get them going. Thanks little guy in the middle, you saved the day!

We bought this cool waterproof camera before this trip. It's been really convenient not having to worry about dropping it or getting it wet. Here's our first underwater shot.

This is North Beach on Isla Mujeres. It was so so so breathtaking. It was pretty empty and we just got to hang out and relax. The water was clear and shallow. The sand was like powdered sugar.

I was so glad to be there, this is what I looked like all day.

Here we are on our boat ride back to Cancun. I was so sad to leave but was excited for the rest of our trip. I LOVE boat rides. I love the feeling of the wind on my skin and the gentle rocking motion. It is so peaceful and beautiful on the ocean, I could do that every day. Maybe when we retire we can go sailing for a year.

After we got back in Cancun we went to get some din din. We ate at this amazing Italian restaurant. It was pretty fancy schmancy and we were definitely under dressed. The meals were brought out with silver lids and the waiters came over and lifted them all off in unison. All of the pasta was made fresh daily and it was to die for. We were seated right by a window and it was sunny when we got there. In the middle of our meal in an instant these dark clouds rolled in and it was pouring rain. We heard some of the loudest thunder ever, and by the end of our meal it was all gone! The weather in tropical places is crazy!

We are staying at a resort in Playa Del Carmen which is just south of Cancun. So to get there we decided to rent a car. This is our Dodge ATTITUDE. That's right an Attitude. We thought that was a funny name for a car so this is me and Brooke giving the car attitude.
