New York Baby!

We are in New York! We got in yesterday and are having a blast. We went out for some yummy NY pizza last night and explored the city a little bit. Today I have just been getting settled. So aparently there aren't any grocery stores in the entire city. There are only little markets that charge you $9 for a box of cereal. We got a tube of toothpaste, two boxes of cereal and a 1/4 gallon of milk last night and it cost us $26. Insane! Today I walked around trying to find a place to buy some food. I didn't realise how far I had walked when I finally found one. I bought some things...and then had to carry them back. It was a good 20-25 minute walk. That is pretty far when you have arms full of grocery bags, your purse keeps falling off your shoulder, and it is freezing out side. I enjoyed the walk though. I need to learn the streets as best as possible so it was good for me. I am in love with this city. There are crazy people everywhere. For lunch I had a Greek food from a street vendor. I was a little scared to eat from a vendor but then I saw how they prepared the food and it was very clean so I went for it. You've gotta have an open mind and expand your boundries right? I tried lamb! It was really good but I felt so guilty eating a little chopped up baby lamb that I went for a chicken pita sandwich instead. Our building is awesome. We are staying at the Tribeca Tower in downtown Manhattan. We are on the 41st floor on the north east side of the building. From our bed we have a view of the Statue of Liberty and of the World Trade Center site. It is crazy! We would have seen everything that happened on 9/11. We probably would have heard the planes hit the towers. We are eye level to where they would have been. We walked by the Trade Center site last night. It was so eerie and so sad. It was heartbreaking to think that just a few years ago two of the world's tallest buildings were standing, filled with thousands of people and now they are just gone. It was horrible knowing that what we were looking at was the gravesite for thousands of people. The whole 9/11 story became very real for me last night. Anyway, we have loved our New York experience so far. I'll be posting a ton to let you all know what we are up to!

The Trade Center site. This should not be an open sky line.
